Night, party, and club were things that couldn't be separated from
my boyfriend's working circles. My boyfriend was a disk jokey. This time,
Friday night, he was a DJ on a birthday bash of one of my high school mate,
Stephanie Hawkins.
Of course, I was invited to attend the party by her, if that
was thing that you wanted to ask. Nonetheless, Ron didn't know that I was a
friend of hers. I wanted to surprise him in the stage with my new bangs in my
blond hair that were died at noon in my favorite salon.
Speaking about Ron, he said that his name stage was Jack
Reed. He had been a DJ for like three years, and now he had been knowing as a
main DJ on some VIP night clubs in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. I, myself, had no
idea why he tended to use that name instead of using the real one. He only said
it was just a trick of business' music industry, and whatever names that I used
to call him made him laugh so it was enough to call him with his nickname Ron,
from Ronald James McDrouve.
I dated Ron from a month ago, besides, I was only acquainted
with him for about two weeks. Our first meeting was happened in Beverly Hills
at a music studio that Mike—my college friend—had. I was there to visit him
while I had a leisure time since I resigned from my previous work.
I met Ron when I was about to turn around to leave the
studio and coincidentally I was collided with him. I almost fell to the ground,
but he quickly reached and held my hand. I knew it was clichè as fuck, but I
found he was a gentle man.
After that happened, some rendezvous were set and passed.
Then, he ended up to ask me out for some romantic candle light dinner in a
luxury hotel's restaurant. He revealed his feeling of me being in his mind all
the time after he met me, and he asked me to be his girlfriend. I thought it
was too perfect to be broken by the a 'no' word, and he was a kind of guy who
was full of surprises that made me curious of what a feeling being his
girlfriend was. So I replied him with yes, I nodded and he then pulled my left
hand and kissed that. I was speechless.
For the past month of this dating thing, I still had
something was missing. Yeah, I didn't know much about him. I knew our
relationship was new, so I wanted to know him more. He was sweet to me, I
couldn't find even a word to describe how sweet he was.
Recently, the busy schedule of his work made the
communication between us taking place only at FaceTime, Skype, a phone call,
iMessage, or chat. I didn't want to bother him when he worked. I couldn't often
meet him because of that, and his apartment was in the other side of town. If
there were a date, he usually would pick me up at my apartment. He said that I
could come to his apartment when her mom visited him from Texas. I nodded,
understood. I was a type of girls who didn't want to curb my boyfriend because
I didn't want to be curbed too.
"We have arrived, Miss," Taxi driver said, waking
me up from the night thinking.
I took some money from my purse inside my handbag. I gave it
to him, and said, "Thank you, Sir," before I went out to prevent him
for giving me back the change of money. I deliberately didn't bring my car with
me because I would be with Ron later at night in his car.
When I was outside the taxi, I immediately looked into my
favorite mini strapless gold dress that barely reached my knees. I fixed my
bangs and the rest of my dirty blond hair in the taxi's window. I always had a
fear of wearing the wrong clothes in any kind of event I would attend. Maybe
this time I was right for choosing this dress so I walked confidently to the
entrance of the huge club and met the guards.
I took out the invitation that Steph's assistant gave me
last week when I was calling Ron by phone at my apartment from my handbag. I
gave it to the guard wearing denim jacket and said, "I'm Taylor
Swift."
The guard glanced at my invitation and nodded. The other
guard wearing leather jacket brought me to enter the venue of Steph's birthday
which was inside the club silently.
As we arrived at the venue, that guard asked for a
permission to leave to me with giving a cheeky smile, I nodded as a reply.
I walked through some spots to find the owner of the event,
but I got nothing. While I passed the bar, I heard from some famous women that
chatted in sofa near the bar about Steph and her current boyfriend that were
dancing in the dance floor. I sighed and walked again to the dance floor that I
hadn't attended.
When I stopped my footstep at the right side of the dance
floor, I found Steph who wore silky tan dress putting her chin on a black
haired guy's shoulder, slow dancing because the current music that was played
was slow romantic song. I crossed my hands in front of my chest and remembered
some things about Steph and me.
I met Steph personally in the senior year of school because
we never had even a same class before. I, of course, knew her because she was
one of some famous girls at school, the most wanted girl to be dated by our boy
friends, and a daughter of actress Cassandra Hawkins.
We were not that close at first, but when she came to me
with a sudden and told me that she started dating my younger brother for a
week, then she and I became closer like sisters, making her wanting to sit next
to me in every time she was around me. Closer to our final exams, Steph and my
brother broke up, yet that didn't affect the friendship between us until the graduation
came. When the graduation had finished I never met her again in person.
Being a busy college student and then worked a lot in the
other side of country, I could just see her beauty face in magazines that I
read freely in the bookstore. I was proud of her when I saw her being an
ambassador of American famous make up and clothing brands in TV. Steph now was
all over TV and internet, and she was a success model. We took different parts,
but I was happy for her like really proud.
Didn't want to bother the couple, I decided to go back to
the bar to order a drink and met them later tonight. This place was so crowded
and cold, yet I felt thirsty. The thought of meeting my boyfriend made me so
happy and I didn't want to be drunk. It would be a great night if I was sober
with him by my side, so some glasses of red wine was enough.
As the wine arrived and I was about to drink it, someone sat
in the seat right beside me, making me turning my head to the right. I saw a
man sat there, and he was looking straight at his phone screen. Okay, he might
just want to sit there and had nothing to do with me. I turned my head to my
wine again and drank it until the mini glass was empty.
I had no idea about time my boyfriend performing, but the
current DJ played a song with tropical house style in a very good way. So, I
nodded my head and shook my body, following the vibe of that song from my seat.
I wished Ron would played songs that he had said in our video call session on
Skype this morning.
"I doubt you try it, but still—, gimme the whole story!
I'm at the bar," a raspy voice came from the person that sat next to me.
It certainly stopped me from focusing to the song.
I turned my face to face him again, and now I could see
his eyes staring at mine. The dim blue lights shone through his face, showing
his feature. I gulped.
His dark long curly hair, flowing from his head that was
covered by some black fedora hat. He wore white shirt with three button opened
and unbutton printed suit. I guessed his whole outfit was expensive. Yeah, I
felt like I had seen that suit in YSL website. It might from their
springsummer 2015 collection, or if I was wrong, he might be wearing ones from
another famous brands. Honestly, his taste of style was so good!
I knew now I checked him out, but the fact that he looked so
attractive couldn't help me to avoid him. Besides, I couldn't find and meet my
boyfriend now because I would surprise him after his performance in
backstage. So, I felt alone in this kind of world now and needed company.
From what I saw, he didn't want to talk with me even just
introducing our names. So, I thought sitting with silence to wait Ron was way
better. I shrugged.
"You spilled wine and make your fancy dress stained,
girl," that man said.
I looked around the bar, but there wasn't a girl but me. I
put my glass to the counter, "You talk to me?"
"No, I talk to the bartender," he stated with
rolling his eyes.
I glanced at him, and then looked at my dress. I found that
little round wine stain traced in it. I looked back at him and mumbled,
"Thanks."
Weird. One word came out from my mouth was that. He checked
me out too, but what I got was just his attention of a stain on my dress. Well,
I wore a badass dress you knew.
"I'm Harry," he craned hand for me to shake with a
grin on his face. Dimple was visible in his left cheek, and I felt something in
my gut moving.
I tried my best no to see his face and shook his hand,
"Taylor."
He furrowed his forehead and said, "Love your
lovely blond hair. Bangs really look great on you, Tay-tay."
I chuckled. He called my nickname in his first meeting with
me the way my parents and brothers called me. As if he knew me since I was
baby. I never saw him. I replied, "Thanks for checking me out the
whole time, Sir."
He chuckled. When he was about to reply, someone clapped my
bare right shoulder, making me surprised. I turned around my body to
where the person clapping my shoulder was and saw a beautiful figure
smiling at me.
Stephanie Hawkins suddenly hugged me tight and placed her
chin in my shoulder. She said, "I miss you, Taylor. So bad."
"Steph, my girl! I miss you too so much. Ouch, It
hurts," I replied her with a little joke.
Steph released the hug and looked right at my eyes, "Oh
really?"
I nodded then winked my right eye, and I hugged her tighter,
"I was joking, barbie girl, chill!"
I loosened the hug and sat in the seat that I was about to
leave. "Taylor thanks for being here! The thought of you not attending my
party again scares me to death," Steph said with full of happiness.
I took a little brown box with broken white ribbon knotted
on the top from my handbag. I gave that to Steph and said, "That's not a
shit I'll do this time to the birthday girl! I'm so sorry for not attending
your past birthday parties, blame my homework, and my job, not me," I
continued, "Happy birthday, Steph. Hope you like it, and I love you!"
Steph smiled and looked at me, "You don't have to do
this, Tay, but thank you so much. I love you," She pinched my left cheek,
her habit just like the old times.
"Stephy, don't pinch cheek of my date. I'm afraid
she'll leave because your weird behavior," Harry spoke with all of a
sudden in my back, "Or you'll get something bad happen to you, soon."
Steph looked at my back, furrowing her forehead because of
finding Harry. She said, "What the hell are you doing with my bestie?
Isn't that enough to mess around with dolls who run to you?"
I was confused about this weird topic of their conversation.
"Dolls? Like barbie? Or teddy bear?" I chuckled and continued,
"But, Steph, it isn't what you think it is. He just sat there and told me
that I ruined my own dress. That's it."
"Plus, I don't play dolls. Your gir friends need me, so
they run after me all the time," Harry said with full of himself and
continued, "Enrique, what's up? I haven't seen you around the squad in
awhile."
Harry stood up from his seat, walked, and shook a hand of
some black hair man that came with Steph earlier, "I'm doing some stuffs.
Maybe I'll come around next week to show y'll my new project."
Steph then stated, "Whoah, Tay. I forget to introduce
you to my man. I mean the black hair guy, not Harry."
"You have to introduce me to Taylor, Stephy. You can't
just avoid my existance in here," Harry muttered.
"Damn it, Harry," Stephanie sighed.
"Guys, she's Taylor, my friend," Steph said while
sitting in the seat next to me. Pointing at the man with black hair she said
proudly, "He's Enrique. My boyfriend."
Part one that had been edited. Hope you like it, buds! I
probably will post the next chapter in a couple of hours. xx
